Jeju Island West Route · Jelly Sea One‑Day Tour

Starting from downtown Jeju City and passing through Udo Island, Hyeopjae Beach, Jeongbang Waterfall, and Seogwipo Seafood Market, this one‑day trip explores the representative “jelly sea” and coastal scenery of Jeju’s western route. You can experience unique natural landscapes such as white sandy beaches, volcanic rock coasts, and a waterfall pouring into the sea, while also tasting local seafood.

Gloucester Hotel is located in downtown Jeju City and serves as both the starting point and the return point of the itinerary. The hotel is close to the airport and the city center, with convenient transportation, making it a suitable base for visiting both the eastern and western routes of Jeju. You can easily take buses right outside the hotel or drive yourself to major attractions.
Udo Island is one of the most famous offshore islands on the east side of Jeju, named because its shape resembles a reclining cow. The island features diverse scenery, including white sandy beaches, black volcanic rocky coasts, and reed fields. The seawater is highly transparent and appears in a blue‑green gradient under the sunlight, earning the nickname “jelly sea.” Visitors can rent electric bicycles or take a circular island bus to enjoy panoramic coastal views, lighthouses, and seaside villages along the shoreline.
Udo Peak is the highest point on Udo Island. From the summit, you can overlook the entire Udo Island and the surrounding sea. There is a white lighthouse at the top, set against a backdrop where sea and sky blend into one, making it a popular spot for taking Instagram‑style photos. On clear days, you can see Jeju main island and nearby small islands in the distance.
Udo Black Sand Beach was formed by the weathering and accumulation of volcanic rocks. The coastline is covered with black reefs, creating a striking contrast with the nearby white sand beaches. When waves crash against the black rocks, they send up large plumes of white spray, making it an excellent place to photograph dynamic seascapes and one of the best spots to experience Udo’s volcanic landforms.
Hyeopjae Beach is located in the northwest of Jeju Island and is one of the most famous white sand beaches on the island. The sand here is fine and pure white, and the seawater is shallow and clear, with a light blue, jelly‑like texture, making it suitable for swimming, water fun, and family activities. The beach is well equipped with facilities, including rental sunshades and beach chairs, and there are cafés and snack shops along the shore. It is a popular seaside resort for watching the sunset and relaxing in a daze.
Jeongbang Waterfall, located in Seogwipo, is one of the few waterfalls in the world that plunges directly from a cliff into the sea, with a height of about 23 meters. The waterfall pours down from a black volcanic rock wall, and the water flows straight into the sea, splashing up large white waves that form a sharp contrast with the blue seawater and black rocks. The scenic area has viewing platforms and walkways and is a classic check‑in spot for photographing the spectacular sight of a “waterfall falling into the sea” and sunset sea views.
Seogwipo Seafood Market is one of the traditional markets in downtown Seogwipo, famous for its variety of fresh seafood and local snacks. Inside the market, you can taste dishes such as freshly caught live octopus, seafood hot pot, and seafood scallion pancakes. Many stalls offer Korean‑style seafood dishes cooked to order on the spot, making it a great place to experience Jeju’s local food culture and to buy dried seafood products.
